VOLUNTEER/INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Foster and Mental Health Program Volunteer/Intern

Join Tapestry Family Services and dip your feet into each of the various programs that we offer, including: Child Abuse Treatment Program (CHAT), Licensed Treatment Foster Care, Intensive Treatment Foster Care, Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment Program for children and their families, Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

As a part of your training, you will receive an initial 40-hour training which focuses on impact of trauma and trauma informed care, in addition to the court process. You will be exposed to the population that we serve and the day-to-day responsibilities of staff who work directly with children and families.

Volunteers/Interns will have opportunities in learning the life of a juvenile dependency case, how mental health services support the reunification of families and functioning across settings, become familiar with necessary documentation as required by Community Care Licensing, become familiar with the foster care certification process and necessary steps to ensure a positive and successful placement, provide transportation services, child care assistance, maintenance of supplies, filing and any necessary supportive services to employees of the grant. Volunteers/Interns in this program will also receive training opportunities regarding clinical implications for children in foster care, in addition to academic and social functioning difficulties, impact of trauma, trauma-informed care, court processes surrounding the clients we serve.

Requirement:

  • A commitment of at least 8 hours per week.
  • Completion of 40-hour training prior to contact with clients
